A new generation of Mapping with Phantom 4 RTKK
DJI has rethought its drone technology, revolutionizing the system to achieve a new Standard for Phantom 4 RTK drones that offer data to a centimeter at the same time asking for fewer ground control points.
Positioning system with accuracy to centimeter
The new RTK module is integrated directly into the Phantom 4 RTK drone and provides real-time positioning information to a centimeter. Positioned just below the RTK receiver is a GNSS module installed to support flight stability in weak signal regions such as densely populated cities. Combining both modules, Phantom 4 RTK optimizes flight safety while guaranteeing the most accurate data on complex studies, mapping and working processes.
Phantom 4 RTK can be adapted for each type of task, allowing for connection to the D-RTK 2 mobile station, NTRIP (Network Transport of RTCM Via Internet Protocol) using a 4G modem or WiFi, or store the Post Processed Kinematics data (PPK).
Collecting accurate data with Time sync
To take full advantage of Phantom 4 RTK positioning modules, the new TimeSync system synchronizes the field controller, camera and RTK module. In addition, Time sync ensures that each photo uses the most accurate metadata and fix positioning data to the center of the CMOS sensor – optimizing the results of photogrammetric methods and allowing the image to realize positioning information to a centimeter.
Precision visualization system
Capture the best image information with the 1-inch, 20 megapixel CMOS sensor. The mechanical shutter makes the mapping assignments or shooting ordinary data seamlessly while the drone moves, and you take pictures without the risk of blurring the image. Thanks to the high resolution, Phantom 4 RTK can achieve a sample distance from 2.74 cm at a flight height of 100 meters above sea level. To ensure that any drone Phantom 4 RTK offers unparalleled accuracy, each camera lens passes through a strict calibration process in which radial and tangential distortions are measured. Accumulated distortion parameters are retained in the metadata of each image that allows the subsequent processing software to adjust frames unique to each of the users.
Application for Target Flight Planning
The new GS RTK application allows the pilots to smoother their Phantom 4 RTK drones with both planning modes – photogrammetry and route flight. These planning regimes allow the pilots to set the drone flight route to adjust the speed, altitude, the camera setting and thus offer automated mapping or inspection of the respective workflow.
The GS RTK application is built for user convenience and therefore has a set of features designed for specific mapping and inspection processes. The application can charge KML Area files directly for pre-flight planning, features a special camera shutter priority mode that supports the same exposure in all frames and strong alarm signalling to warn the pilots of unfavourable conditions.
